The Soft Tissue Grafting Workshop™ for Dentists in DC, Maryland & Virginia
Optimize Your Soft Tissue — Predictable, Consistent Grafting for Long-Term Success Around Teeth and Implants
16 CE hours of connective tissue grafting (CTG), free gingival grafting (FGG), tunnel and coronally positioned flap root coverage, and soft tissue management around implants, with 9 hours hands-on. Taught by two board-certified periodontists using the decision frameworks they rely on in specialist practice. February 12–13, 2027 at Westwood Country Club, Vienna, Virginia, within easy reach of Washington, DC and Maryland.
See What Two Days of Hands-On Soft Tissue Training Look Like
Small groups, pig-jaw models at every station, and two board-certified periodontists moving from table to table to coach your flap design, graft harvesting and suturing. Watch a past session, then picture your own technique improving case by case.

Covering a Root Is One Skill. Keeping It Covered Is Another.
Most soft tissue courses show ideal recessions and perfect photos. This workshop teaches the cases you actually see, with the complete soft tissue toolkit as one connected protocol, so your results stay stable around teeth and implants for the long term.
The Complete Soft Tissue Toolkit
Not just one graft. CTG, FGG, acellular dermal matrix, tunnel and coronally positioned flaps, taught as one decision pathway.
Real Hands-On Surgery
Nine hours of flap design, graft harvesting, suturing and root coverage technique on pig-jaw models, not just slides.
A Predictability Framework
Case classification, technique-selection algorithms and the key factors that keep soft tissue results stable over the long term.
Treating Recession Is One Skill. Getting Predictable Coverage Is Another.
For most dentists the gap isn't ability. It's the lack of one reliable framework for case classification, graft choice and flap management. Without it, outcomes vary from case to case and recession and thin-tissue cases get referred out.
If any of these hit home, this workshop is for you:
- You refer out gingival recession and thin-tissue cases
- Your root coverage results vary from case to case without a clear reason
- You're unsure when to choose CTG, FGG, acellular dermis or a tunnel
- You've collected protocols from different CE courses that don't agree
- You want a clear protocol for palatal harvesting and donor-site management
- You want to manage flaps and soft tissue around teeth and implants with real confidence
From “It Usually Works” to “I Know Why It Works.”
Before the Workshop
- Soft tissue decisions made case by case, by feel
- Graft choice driven by habit or a rep
- Recession and thin-tissue cases referred out or delayed
- Complications handled after the fact
- No one to call when a case doesn't go to plan
After the Workshop
- A case-selection system that tells you when to proceed and when to refer
- An evidence-based algorithm for choosing CTG, FGG, acellular dermis or tunnel
- Root coverage and soft tissue augmentation you can perform with confidence
- Complications anticipated, prevented and managed
- A year of WhatsApp access to your periodontist instructors
Scientific & Clinical Curriculum
A curriculum spanning case classification, surgical technique and graft selection for predictable, long-term soft tissue outcomes.
Diagnosis & Case Planning
- Case selection, classification & treatment planning
- Implant vs. tooth biology and soft tissue anatomy
- Presenting a treatment plan to increase case acceptance
- Anatomy review & anatomical danger zones
Surgical Execution
- CTG, FGG and acellular dermal grafts vs. tunnel
- Root coverage vs. biotype modification
- Advanced flap design for soft tissue grafting
- Advanced suturing: suture & needle selection
Materials & Complications
- Soft tissue technique selection and workflow algorithm
- Soft tissue management around implants (VIPCTG)
- Intra-op and post-op complications and pain management
- Papilla management around teeth and implants
By the End of This Workshop, You Will Be Able To:
- Classify recession defects and treatment plan root coverage and soft tissue augmentation
- Apply the biological and mechanical principles behind soft tissue graft healing
- Perform CTG, FGG and tunnel techniques with passive, tension-free flap closure
- Choose the right graft and approach for each tooth or implant site
- Prevent, identify and manage intra-op and post-op soft tissue complications
Real Cases From Our Periodontists
Before-and-after root coverage and soft tissue grafting results from our periodontists, using the techniques you'll practice in this workshop.

You Won't Just Watch It. You'll Do It, With a Periodontist Beside You.
More than half of this workshop is hands-on. You'll practice every step on pig-jaw models while two board-certified periodontists coach your technique in real time. To keep that coaching personal, seating is intentionally limited.
Why it matters: long-term soft tissue failures usually trace back to technique details: flap tension, graft thickness, suture selection, graft stabilization. Those are learned with your hands, not from slides.

What you'll practice:
- Advanced suturing (horizontal mattress, sling and compression sutures)
- Flap and incision design
- Palatal connective tissue graft harvesting
- Free gingival grafting
- Tunnel and coronally positioned flap root coverage
- Soft tissue grafting (VIPCTG)
The Course Ends Saturday. Your Access to the Faculty Doesn't.
Every participant gets 1 year of direct WhatsApp access to Dr. Kiarash and Dr. Behmanesh. Review a case before your first graft, get a second opinion on a difficult site, or troubleshoot a complication, with the same periodontists who taught you.
Who This Workshop Is For
Designed for general dentists and implant dentists, including AAID members and fellows, who want stable soft tissue results, not just good-looking post-op photos.
Diagnosing It, Referring It Out
- You diagnose recession and thin tissue but refer the grafting out
- You want a responsible, hands-on path into grafting before your first solo case
- You want case-selection rules that tell you when to proceed and when to refer
Already Grafting, Want Consistency
- You graft today, but outcomes vary from case to case
- You want results that hold up 5 and 10 years out
- You want one evidence-based framework for graft and technique selection

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this workshop designed for?
General dentists and implant dentists, including AAID members, who want more predictable and consistent long-term grafting results, whether you're new to grafting or already grafting and want a single reliable protocol.
Do I need prior soft tissue grafting experience?
No. The workshop moves from case selection and treatment planning through hands-on surgical technique on pig-jaw models.
Which soft tissue grafting techniques will I practice?
Connective tissue grafts (CTG), free gingival grafts (FGG), acellular dermal grafts, tunnel and coronally positioned flap root coverage, and soft tissue management around implants, plus advanced suturing (horizontal mattress, sling and compression sutures), all on pig-jaw models under the supervision of two board-certified periodontists.
Are clinical results guaranteed?
No course can guarantee clinical outcomes. The workshop gives you a structured protocol, supervised hands-on practice and a year of direct access to the faculty. Your results depend on case selection, practice and applying the protocol carefully in your own patients.
How are the 16 CE hours split?
7 hours of didactic lecture and 9 hours of hands-on practicum. Credits are AGD PACE recognized. AAID members should confirm with AAID how they apply to their credentialing requirements.

Make Your Next Graft Your Most Predictable One
If soft tissue grafting is part of your practice, the difference between “usually works” and “consistently works” is protocol. Spend two days with board-certified periodontists, practice every step with your own hands, and keep them on call for a year.
