Every Restoration Needs a Healthy Foundation.

Periodontal surgery is still a keystone of periodontitis treatment: it controls infection and inflammation and reduces pocket depth. Osseous surgery reshapes hard and soft tissue to a more physiologic anatomy and creates the biologic width and ferrule restorations need. Regeneration aims to rebuild what was lost. This workshop gives you both the rationale and the techniques.

1

Decide With an Algorithm

Case classification and treatment algorithms: when to operate, which procedure, and resective vs. regenerative.

2

Real Hands-On Surgery

Nine hours of flap design, debridement, osseous recontouring, regeneration and suturing on models and pig jaws.

3

Crown Lengthening Done Right

Biologic width and ferrule, and how to decide when crown lengthening is indicated and when extraction is the better option.

Initial Therapy Is Done. The Pockets Are Still There.

Most dentists stop at scaling and root planing and refer the rest, or skip the crown lengthening that would make the restoration last. With a clear protocol and real hands-on practice, these procedures belong in your practice.

If any of these hit home, this workshop is for you:

  • Residual pockets remain after initial therapy, and you refer them out
  • You're not sure when a defect needs resective or regenerative surgery
  • Restorations fail because of inadequate biologic width or ferrule
  • You'd like to perform functional crown lengthening yourself
  • Furcations and vertical defects feel like a mystery
  • You want confident flap design and suturing

From “I'll Refer It to the Periodontist” to “I Can Do This Surgery.”

Before the Workshop

  • Residual pockets referred out or watched
  • Crown lengthening avoided or guessed at
  • Unsure which defects can regenerate
  • Flap design and suturing that don't feel predictable
  • No one to call when a surgery doesn't go to plan

After the Workshop

  • A treatment algorithm for every periodontal defect
  • Hands-on experience with flaps, osseous surgery and GTR
  • Confident functional crown lengthening
  • A suturing toolkit for different situations
  • A year of WhatsApp access to a board-certified periodontist

Scientific & Clinical Curriculum

From the rationale for surgery to the last suture: everything you need to perform resective and regenerative periodontal surgery.

Diagnosis & Flap Surgery

  • Case classification and treatment algorithms
  • Surgical anatomy, advanced flap design and incision designs
  • Periodontal flap preparation and surgical debridement
  • Advanced suturing techniques

Resective Surgery & Crown Lengthening

  • Osseous defect classification
  • Ostectomy and osteoplasty protocols
  • Biologic width and the ferrule effect

Regeneration & Complications

  • Guided tissue regeneration: concepts, rationale and evolution
  • Regenerative strategies for different clinical situations
  • Material selection: bone grafts, membranes and biologics
  • Furcation management; post-operative care and complications

By the End of This Workshop, You Will Be Able To:

  • Develop a rationale for periodontal surgical treatment after completion of initial therapy
  • Assess indications, contraindications and techniques for periodontal surgery
  • Differentiate between resective and regenerative surgical procedures
  • Understand biologic width and when crown lengthening is needed
  • Decide when crown lengthening is indicated and when extraction is the better option
  • Perform resective and regenerative periodontal surgery, including functional crown lengthening

The Kind of Cases You'll Be Ready to Treat

Periodontal defects before and during flap surgery, with the radiographic view.

Periodontal surgery cases: a probe in a deep pocket, a radiograph of bone loss, a reflected flap exposing an osseous defect, and a full-thickness flap showing bone around the lower anterior teeth

You Won't Just Watch It. You'll Operate, With a Periodontist Beside You.

More than half of this workshop is hands-on. You'll design and raise flaps, debride, recontour bone, perform crown lengthening and regenerative techniques, and close with a range of suturing techniques on models and pig jaws, while Dr. Behmanesh coaches your technique in real time. To keep that coaching personal, seating is intentionally limited.

Why it matters: periodontal surgery is a hands skill. Flap handling, bone recontouring and suturing are learned by doing them, under supervision, not from slides.

What you'll practice:

  • Flap design and incisions
  • Flap elevation and surgical debridement
  • Osseous recontouring: ostectomy and osteoplasty
  • Functional crown lengthening
  • Guided tissue regeneration with grafts and membranes
  • Advanced suturing techniques

Why Periodontal Surgery Belongs in Your Practice

The Course Ends Saturday. Your Access to the Faculty Doesn't.

Every participant gets 1 year of direct WhatsApp access to Dr. Behmanesh. Review a case before surgery, check a crown-lengthening decision, or get guidance on a complication, with the same periodontist who taught you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this workshop designed for?

General dentists and implant dentists, including AAID members, who want to treat periodontal pockets, perform crown lengthening and regenerative procedures in their own practice instead of referring every case.

What procedures does the workshop cover?

Periodontal flap surgery, including clinical crown lengthening (CCL), guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and osseous surgery, flap design and suturing, surgical debridement, osseous recontouring (ostectomy and osteoplasty), functional crown lengthening, biologic width and ferrule management, furcation defects, regenerative material selection, and intra- and post-operative complications.

What will I practice hands-on?

Flap design, incisions, flap elevation, surgical debridement, osseous recontouring, crown lengthening, regenerative techniques and a range of suturing techniques, on models and pig jaws, with the faculty coaching you at your station.

Do I need prior surgical experience?

No. The workshop starts from the rationale for surgery after initial therapy and builds step by step, from treatment planning to incision design and suturing.

Are clinical results guaranteed?

No course can guarantee clinical outcomes. The workshop gives you a structured protocol, supervised hands-on practice and a year of direct access to the faculty. Your results depend on case selection, practice and applying the protocol carefully in your own patients.

How are the 16 CE hours split?

7 hours of didactic lecture and 9 hours of hands-on practicum. Credits are AGD PACE recognized. AAID members should confirm with AAID how they apply to their credentialing requirements.
