Background:
Periodontal disease are the leading cause of tooth loss in adults in the twenty first century. Now with the advances in correlation studies the role of the mouth as the gateway to the overall health of an individual has become general knowledge. As such the concern we all share as health care providers, now more than ever before, is how to optimize a patient’s overall health through reducing their exposure to periodontal disease. In this full day symposium, speakers will cover many highly sought after topics such as, the number one barrier to dental care from the view point of the patient, management and treatment of the most common periodontal conditions while addressing barrier to care. Combination implant surgery algorithms will be discussed and technics addressing patient care through education will be reviewed as well.
Course Objectives:

IV sedation use for management of dental anxiety.

Practical guidelines for the management of periodontal diseases will be discussed to facilitate implementation in the participant’s office.

Evidence based treatment modalities are shared which are beneficial to patient care.

Techniques are shared to help improve patient education & motivation & to reduce “no shows”.

Novelties in immediate implant placement in the molar region will be discussed.

SPEAKERS
Dr. Omid Kiarash
DMD, MSD, Dip. Perio., ABP., FRCD(C)
Dr. Kiarash is the Director of the Department of Periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. He is also the founder of the "Centre des Spécialistes Dentaires Zeeba" located on the south shore of Montreal in Saint-Lambert, Quebec, where he maintains his private practice.

Dr. Kiarash is a board certified specialist. He received his Postgraduate specialty training in Periodontics, as well as his masters in Periodontics and Dental Implantology at Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Kiarash has had extensive training in full mouth rehabilitation utilizing the most advanced surgical techniques in bone grafting and dental implantology under intravenous sedation.

Dr.Kiarash has presented at many national and international conferences.His field of interest is the treatment and management of advanced periodontal diseases and recession defects. Dr. Kiarash regularly teaches live hands-on courses to other dentists on the use of more advanced surgical techniques and protocols for the management of these conditions as well as the placement of dental implants.

Dr. Kiarash is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is the Chairman for the Predoctoral Directors Organization of the American Academy of Periodontology. He is the President-Elect for the Canadian Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Kiarash is the Study Club Director for the “Montreal Rive-Sud” ITI Study Club.
Dr. Sara Behmanesh
DDS, MSc, Dip. Perio., ABP.
Dr.Behmanesh attended University of Maryland School of Dentistry and finished her dental training in 2008. She then pursued a 3-year postdoctoral residency program in Periodontology at the same institution. She received a certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Dentistry in 2011. As a resident, she was ambassador to the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. Dr. Behmanesh is a board certified periodontist with an advance training in bone grafting techniques, implant dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation. She joined "Centrede Spécialistes Dentaires Zeeba” in 2013.
Dr. Behmanesh joined McGill University in 2014 as a clinical instructor, faculty lecturer and course director in the Department of Periodontics. She has received the prestigious American Academy of Periodontology Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Behmanesh is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an active member of the International Team of Implantology.
She is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology pre-doctoral educator organization. Dr.Behmanesh has a passion for teaching and is involved in hands-on Continuing Dental Education courses teaching advance surgical techniques. She is on the executive board of Montreal Dental Club and Federation of Dental Societies of Greater Montreal. She is also the director of the Spears Study Club in Saint Lambert.
Dr. Phuc Huynh
DMD, MSc
Born in Vietnam and raised in the province of Quebec, Dr Phuc Huynh attended high school and college on the South Shore of Montreal during the 70’s and 80’s. In 1985, Dr Huynh obtained his doctorate of dental medicine at Université de Montréal. Since the beginning of his career, he has always believed that the only way to best serve the population is through continuing education in dental art. He spends his professional time between private office and clinical teaching. Dr Huynh’s favourite areas of practice are joint problems, root canal treatments and functional aesthetics. Dr Huynh has completed post-graduate training in Advanced Functional Aesthetics at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Furthermore, he completed a Master program in Temporo Mandibular Dysfunction (TMJ) at the Krems Universityin Austria.
Nowadays, Dr Huynh is a professor, clinician, and researcher in the Multidisciplinary Dental Academy and he maintains his private practice at Centre Dentaire La Vallée.
